PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residence which reduces a heat load.SOLUTION: A residence 1 of this invention is a residence which comprises a half-basement 10 with a floor face 11 placed lower than grand level GL and a ceiling plane 12 placed higher than the ground level GL. In the half-basement 10, an opening 13 is formed at the above-ground part which is placed higher than the ground level GL, including a window member 16 which can shield the opening 13 and a solar shading member 17 which can cover the opening 13.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
