PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device capable of suppressing shielding members from being inclined.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, a shielding device includes plural lift cords, shielding members that ascend and descend as the plural lift codes move, and a braking device that applies a braking force to the plural lift cords, the shielding device being configured to further include individual resistance applying means which is assigned to each of the plural lift cords to provide an individual resistance to the movement of each of the plural lift cords.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
