To provide a shielding device that can improve safety while downsizing an operation device, reducing cost, and improving operability.SOLUTION: A shielding device of the present invention has an operation device 3, which enables shielding materials 11U, 11L respectively to be opened and closed by rotating multiple drive shafts 7R, 7F (or enables a shielding material 11 to be opened or closed by rotating a piece of drive shaft 7). The operation device 3 droops operation cords 13, 14, to which single-stage or multi-stage grip members are attached from a pair of operation pulleys 32, 34, and has a spiral spring 33, which applies energizing force to the rotation in the opposite direction to each other of the operation pulleys 32, 34 so as to roll up the operation cords 13, 14, respectively, and a rotation transmission shaft 36 and driven gear members 37, 38, which are configured as a rotation transmission mechanism to transmit the rotation of one of the operation pulleys 32, 34 that are made to rotate against the energizing force to the drive shaft 7F and the rotation of the other to the drive shaft 7F.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
