To extend the usable period of a portable device in a remote keyless entry (RKE) system.SOLUTION: A portable device according to one embodiment is a portable device of a remote keyless entry system including the portable device and an on-vehicle apparatus. The portable device includes: a voltage detection unit for detecting a voltage value of a battery; a control unit for acquiring the voltage value from the voltage detection unit and generating a control request including a preamble; and a transmission unit for wirelessly transmitting the control request. The control unit is configured to generate the control request including a long preamble having a first bit number if the voltage value is equal to or greater than a set voltage value, and to generate the control request including a short preamble having a second bit number smaller than the first bit number if the voltage value is less than the set voltage value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
