To provide a waste storing container which can lock an opening and closing of a lid and is arranged at a position where a locking member is inconspicuous from an outside even in a locked state.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a waste storage container having a container body 4 whose upper part is an opening part and an openable and closable lid 5 which closes the opening part of the container body 4. The waste storage container of the present invention further has an upper edge part 11 projecting outwardly from an edge of an opening part of the container body 4 and a folded wall part 12 formed downward from an outer edge of the upper edge part 11. The lid 5 is provided with a locking member 17 that takes an unlocking state allowing opening and closing operations and a locking state prohibiting opening and closing operations. In the upper edge portion 11, an insertion port 14 is formed for permitting a passage of the locking member 17 in the unlocked state and for prohibiting the passage of the locking member 17 in a locked state during the opening and closing operation of the lid 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
