PORTABLE TERMINAL DEVICE AND AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM
To provide an authentication system to allow communication using a high-frequency between a portable terminal device and in-vehicle equipment to be easily established.SOLUTION: A portable terminal device of an authentication system includes: a first communication unit to perform wireless communication with in-vehicle equipment mounted on a vehicle by using a first frequency band and a second communication unit to perform ultra-wide band wireless communication using a second frequency band including frequencies higher than the first frequency band; a notification unit to perform a predetermined notification operation; and a first controller to control the first communication unit, the second communication unit, and the notification unit. The first controller makes the first communication unit perform wireless communication for authentication with the in-vehicle equipment, and makes the second communication unit perform wireless communication for measuring a distance from the portable terminal device to the in-vehicle equipment, and makes the notification unit perform a predetermined notification operation when the first communication unit receives a radio signal from the in-vehicle equipment indicating that distance measurement fails.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
