To provide a self-tapping screw capable of being placed into a ceramic or stone-made material to be fixed, and capable of fixing a fixation member to the material to be fixed, and a fixation method using the self-tapping screw.SOLUTION: A self-tapping screw 1 is configured to be placed into a ceramic or stone-made material to be fixed, and is made of metal whose tensile strength exceeds 720 N/mm2, wherein a cut-in part 8 is formed at a screw thread 5 within a predetermined range from a tip part 7.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
