To provide a sleeper and assembly method for the same with which replacement of a protective member can be easily executed.SOLUTION: A sleeper according to the present invention is a sleeper disposed on a train track and comprising: a sleeper body having a rectangular parallelepiped shape; a protective member disposed on the upper surface of the sleeper body; and at least one connecting member for detachably connecting the sleeper body and the protective member. The protective member is formed with a through hole for receiving the connecting member.
