To provide a method of reconditioning a rail for setting a contact location to a desired location.SOLUTION: A method of reconditioning a rail includes the steps of checking a current contact location (111d) of a top surface (111) of a rail (1) and a wheel tread (21), and reconditioning the top surface (111) to form an inclined plane (111a) on the top surface (111) inclined on the current contact location (111d) side downwardly starting from a previously designed contact location (111c) when the current contact location (111d) is deviated from the previously designed contact location (111c) of the top surface (111) and the wheel tread (21) in a track width direction. The inclined plane (111a) includes an inclined angle (β) larger than an inclined angle (α) of the wheel tread (21) at the previously designed contact location (111c).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2B
