To provide an alumina sintered body having high hardness and excellent abrasion resistance, an abrasive grain, and a grindstone.SOLUTION: An alumina sintered body comprises: an inner layer that contains an alumina crystal grain; and an outer layer that covers at least a part of the inner layer from outside, has a higher content of alkaline-earth metals than that of the inner layer, and contains an alumina crystal grain. The content of the alkaline-earth metals contained in the outer layer is 1.0-30.0 wt.% in terms of oxides. The alumina sintered body contains no silicon other than inevitable impurities.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
