To provide a roadside device and a roadside device installation method which can shorten the time for lifting a support object and reduce the burden on a worker.SOLUTION: A support post 21 comprises: a support column body 39 having an internal space capable of accommodating a cable; an upper support part 40 disposed at the upper end of the column main body 39, which can be fixed to a device body 20; and an evacuation hole formation part 44 disposed below the upper support part 40, which forms a retraction hole 44h that allows the internal space and the external space of the support column body 39 to communicate with each other to evacuate a cable to the outside of the support post 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
