METHOD FOR CONFINING MOLTEN METAL USING MOLTEN METAL CONFINEMENT RING IN ROLLING FRICTION WELDING
To provide a method for confining a molten metal capable of preventing reduction in joining strength due to voids in a joining structure occurred by discharge of the molten metal from the space to the outside in rolling friction welding applicable to joining of large scale steel members, using a relatively small mechanism, for joining steel members constituting a steel structure framework of columns, beams and the like in a construction steel structure.SOLUTION: In rolling friction welding for joining a first steel member 10 and a second steel member 20 via a joining metal 40 by providing a space 50 between an end surface 11 of the first steel member 10 and an end surface 21 of the second steel member 20, and rotating the joining metal 40 about a rotation axis 71 to generate friction, so as to use friction heat to melt a material structure around a rolling friction surface 62 to generate a molten metal 80, which integrates with the structure around a gap 61; a molten metal confining ring 90 made of a permanent magnet is attached to the joining metal 40, with a ring rear surface 93 placed on a surface 12 of the first steel member and a surface 22 of the second steel member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
【課題】建築鋼構造の柱や梁などの鋼構造骨組を構成する鋼材の接合のため、比較的小さな機構で、大規模な鋼材の接合に適用できる回転摩擦溶接において、溶融金属が空所から外部へ吐出して接合組織の中に生ずる空隙による接合強度の低下を防止する溶融金属閉じ込め方法を提供する。【解決手段】第1の鋼材10の端面11と第2の鋼材20の端面21とに跨る空所50を加工し、接合金属40を回転軸71周りに回転させて摩擦を生ぜしめ、摩擦熱を利用して回転摩擦面62近傍の材料組織を溶融させて溶融金属80を生成し、隙間61近傍の組織と一体化させることにより接合金属40を介して第1の鋼材10と第2の鋼材20とを接合する回転摩擦溶接において、永久磁石である溶融金属閉じ込めリング90を接合金属40に装着し、リング部裏面93を第1の鋼材の表面12と第2の鋼材の表面22とに載置する。【選択図】 図3
