To further improve corrosion resistance of zirconia-carbon containing refractories having a high zirconia content.SOLUTION: The zirconia-carbon containing refractory is obtained by kneading a mixture of raw materials together with the organic binder, molding the mixture, and then heat-treating the mixture in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The mixture of raw materials is obtained by adding 0.5 mass% or more and 3 mass% or less of zirconium silicide to, a blend containing 84 mass% or more and 95 mass% or less of a zirconia raw material and the remainder of mainly consisting of graphite, with respect to 100 mass% of a total amount of the blend. The zirconium silicide contains 80 mass% or more of particles having a diameter of 100 μm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
