To suitably introduce and implement vacant room management for existing private rooms such as multipurpose toilets.SOLUTION: A vacant room management device according to the present invention includes: storage means for storing vacant room information on a private room; reception means for receiving a door opening/closing detection signal indicating detection of open or close from open/close detection means for detecting opening and closing of a door of the private room and a human sensing detection signal indicating detection of a person from human sensing detection means that detects a person in the private room; and update means for updating the vacant room information. When the human sensing detection signal is received, the update means updates the vacant room information to information indicating the room is occupied, and the door opening/closing detection signal is received, the vacant room information is updated to information indicating the room is vacant.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
