To provide a handrail bar capable of improving workability during manufacture, and a manufacturing method of the handrail bar with improved workability during manufacture.SOLUTION: A handrail bar 1A comprises an elongate substrate 2 and a surface layer sheet 5. The substrate 2 comprises a first recess part 3 and a second recess part 4. In an axial direct cross-sectional view, an angle α2 of a side surface 4a of the second recess part 4 relative to an outer peripheral surface 2f of the substrate 2 is greater than an angle α1 of a side surface 3a of the first recess part 3 relative to the outer peripheral surface 2f of the substrate 2. The surface layer sheet 5 is disposed on the substrate 2 so that an end edge part 5e of the surface layer sheet 5 reaches at least the side surface 3a of the first recess part 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
