To provide a buckling restraining brace which secures absorption performance of vibration energy.SOLUTION: A buckling restraining brace includes a core material having a first portion including a region that is plastically deformed when receiving a compression or tensile load in a material axis direction and second portions provided on both ends of the first portion, and a stiffener surrounding at least the periphery of the first portion, in which the second portion has a bearing force higher than that of the plastically deformed region. In the core material, the first portion and the second portion are formed of different members, and the member forming the second portion has a bearing force higher than that of the member forming the first portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
