To provide a ceramic body and a method of producing the same, which makes it possible to reduce the variation in pore diameter of open pores and suppress the reduction in the strength of ceramic bodies caused by the presence of open pores having a relatively large pore diameter.SOLUTION: A ceramic body comprises a plurality of open pores that open to the outside, wherein the ratio of the volume of fine open pores to the volume of all open pores in the ceramic body is 70% or more, the fine open pores being open pores having a pore diameter of 100 nm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
