To provide a ceiling material having excellent holding strength of a panel core material and a method for manufacturing the ceiling material.SOLUTION: Provided is a ceiling material 1 having a panel core material 2 and a mounting bracket 3 which attaches the panel core material 2 to a ceiling joist with the front surface facing down, and has a unit area mass of 1.2 kg/m2 or less. The mounting bracket 3 includes a first plate-shaped member 31 extending in a first direction, and a second plate-shaped member 32 extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction from one end of the first plate-shaped member 31, and is fixed to the panel core material 2 in a state where one end is located inside the panel core material 2 and the first plate-shaped member 31 is parallel to the side surface of the panel core material 2 and protrudes from the back surface of the panel core material 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
