CLAD SILICON CARBIDE FIBER
To solve problems for example, a crack easily occurs on a protective layer formed by a conventional CVD method, in handling, a gap between cracks easily expands, and in reaction sintering time, molten silicon immerses through the cracks, then the molten silicon and an interlayer or a silicon carbide fiber react, therefore the protective layer cannot exhibit sufficient barrier property to the molten silicon.SOLUTION: There is provided a clad silicon carbide fiber in which an interlayer coats a surface of a silicon carbide fiber, a protective layer coats a surface of the interlayer, and the protective layer is formed by an aggregation of silicon nitride particles.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】従来のCVD法で形成した保護層はハンドリングにおいて亀裂が生じ易く、かつ、亀裂の間隙が広がり易く、反応焼結時にこの亀裂から溶融珪素が浸入し、溶融珪素と界面層や炭化珪素繊維が反応してしまい、保護層が溶融珪素に対して充分なバリア性を発現しない可能性がある。【解決手段】炭化珪素繊維の表面に界面層が被覆され、さらに前記界面層の表面に保護層が被覆されており、前記保護層は窒化珪素粒子が集合してなることを特徴とする被覆炭化珪素繊維。【選択図】図1
