To provide a gate opening/closing device which can make a gate body ascend/descend without providing a mechanism whose angle changes three-dimensionally in looseness detection means.SOLUTION: A gate opening/closing device includes: driving means rotating a drum wound with a wire which is bridged to a gate body side sheave, to make a gate body ascend/descend; and looseness detection means 14 detecting looseness of the wire based on a load generated on the wire. The looseness detection means 14 comprises: a moving body 55 moving upwardly in a longer direction of a region J between the gate body side sheave of the wire and the looseness detection means 14 by looseness generated in the wire; a detection portion 58 detecting movement of the moving body 55; a force applying portion 48 applying an upward force in the longer direction of the region J of the wire to the moving body 55; and a support mechanism 60 supporting the moving body 55 and the force applying portion 48. A position of the moving body 55 in a rotation axis of the gate body side sheave is equal to that of the gate body side sheave. The support mechanism 60 rotates together with the moving body 55 and the force applying portion 48 around a rotation axis Q parallel to the rotation axis P of the gate body side sheave.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
