To provide a door and a sliding door device in which a handrail is provided in a storage manner.SOLUTION: A sliding door includes: a handrail bar 32; a sliding door body 20 with a housing section 28 for accommodating therein the handrail bar 32; and a rotating type doorknob 22 provided on the sliding door body 20. The sliding door further includes: a rod arm 64 that is actuated when the door body 20 is in its closed position; a rotating shaft 36 that is connected to the handrail and can rotate in the normal and reverse directions; a storage mechanism that causes the rotating shaft 36 to rotate in the normal direction to store the handrail bar 32 in a housing section 28 in conjunction with an operation of the doorknob 22; a release mechanism that causes the rotating shaft 36 to rotate in the reverse direction to release the handrail bar 32 from the housing section 28 in response to the actuation of the rod arm 64; and a motion limiting mechanism that limits the rotation of the rotating shaft 36 in response to the release of the handrail bar 32.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
