To provide a forward/backward moving device which is made compact in size in a forward/backward movement direction.SOLUTION: A forward/backward moving device comprises: a housing 10; a forward/backward moving member 20 which can move forward/backward to and from the housing 10; a forward/backward movement position control mechanism 30 which controls forward/backward movement of the forward/backward moving member 20 between a first position Pa1 on a forward movement side and a second position Pa2 on a backward movement position; a slider 40 which can move in the forward/backward movement direction of the forward/backward moving member 20 together with the forward/backward moving member 20; and a restriction mechanism 50 which can restrict the forward/backward movement of the forward/backward moving member 20. The slider 40 has a slider-side engagement part 42 engaging a radially outer side of the forward/backward moving member 20, and the restriction mechanism 50 has an engagement member 51 engaging the slider 40, and a drive part 52 allowing a movement between an engagement position Pb1 where the engagement member 51 engages the slider 40 and a separation position Pb2 where the engagement member separates from the slider 40.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
