To provide a forward/backward moving device which can move a lock member to a lock position irrespective of the position of a forward/backward member in an axial direction, and can move the forward/backward member to a backward holding position even when the lock member is in the lock position.SOLUTION: A forward/backward moving device 1 comprises a case 2, a forward/backward member 3, an energization member, a cam mechanism C, and a lock member 5. An end part of the forward/backward member 3 on a backward direction D2 side has a protrusion 3a protruding in the backward direction D2 in an axial direction, and a recess 3b which is formed so as to be recessed with respect to the protrusion 3a. The protrusion 3a has an abutment part CT which can abut on an abutted part 5a of the lock member 5 when in the lock position. When the backward member 3 has reached a return position from a forward holding position, the abutment part CT lies at a position which does not face the abutted part 5a in the axial direction. When the backward member 3 is held in a backward holding position, the abutment part CT lies at a position which faces the abutted part 5a in the axial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 19
