To provide an automatic torque switching device that operates quickly even when the direction of rotation is switched.SOLUTION: An automatic torque switching device includes: a reduction mechanism including a first output section that rotates at a first speed and a second output section that rotates at a second speed faster than the first speed; and a clutch mechanism including a plurality of clutches, a coupling section that is connected to the plurality of clutches, a third output section that rotates at the second speed, and a torque limiter mechanism that can adjust a frictional engagement force between the third output section and the coupling section, in which the power from an input member is transmitted to an output member via the second output section and the coupling section when the input member rotates in a first direction and the load acting on the output member is equal to or less than the frictional engagement force, the power from the input member is transmitted to the output member via the first output section and the coupling section when the input member rotates in the first direction and the load exceeds the frictional engagement force, and the power from the input member is transmitted to the output member via the third output section when the input member rotates in a second direction opposite to the first direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
