To provide a water closet capable of widening the cleaning range of a rim part in the vertical direction.SOLUTION: The water closet includes a toilet bowl part and a water spout part. The toilet bowl part includes: a fece receiving surface; and a rim part 24 forming the upper-end side part of the toilet bowl part. The water spout part has a water spout port that opens in the toilet bowl part. A first swirling flow and a second swirling flow that merge in the toilet bowl part are formed by wash water spouted into the toilet bowl part from the water spout port. When in the initial stage before the first swirling flow merges with the second swirling flow, the first swirling flow flows on a part 24b of the inner peripheral surface of the rim part 24. When in the following stage after the first swirling flow has merged with the second swirling flow, the first swirling flow flows while reaching a higher water level than when in the initial stage, on the part 24b of the rim part 24.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 21
