To provide a method by which a breakage of a handrail is prevented regardless of the total height of the handrail fixed to an underframe in a tank car for a railroad whose tank is attached to the underframe.SOLUTION: In a tank car 1 for a railroad which comprises a tank (51), an underframe (61) to which the tank (51) is fixed and a truck (71) installed in the underframe (61), a handrail (2) fixed to the truck (71) has a handrail frame (21) fixed to the underframe (61), and a muntin (24,25) fixed to the handrail (21) and the underframe (61). At least one of the muntin (24,25) and the handrail frame (21) is fixed to the tank (51).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
