To provide a ceramic member and a cutting tool that prevent the strength of ceramic members from being degraded due to the occurrence of cracks when a strong load is applied to the ceramic member during cutting or the like.SOLUTION: A ceramic member comprises: a plurality of first particles having a carbide equivalent content of W of 80 mass% or more and containing one of WC and W2C; and a plurality of second particles having an Al2O3 content ratio of 80 mass% or more. At least one of the second particles internally contains a third particle that contains tungsten and carbon. A cutting tool is provided with the ceramic member.SELECTED DRAWING: None
【課題】切削加工時など強い負荷がセラミック部材に加わる場合において、クラックが発生することによりセラミック部材の強度が低下することを抑制する、セラミック部材および切削工具を提供する。【解決手段】セラミック部材は、Ｗの炭化物換算の含有比率が８０質量％以上であり、ＷＣおよびＷ２Ｃの少なくとも一方を含有する、複数の第１粒子と、Ａｌ２Ｏ３の含有比率が８０質量％以上である、複数の第２粒子と、を有する。該第２粒子は、少なくとも１つが、タングステンと炭素とを含有する第３粒子を内部に有している。本開示の切削工具は、上記セラミック部材を備えている。【選択図】なし
