To provide a load bearing wall that can maintain a stable bearing force until the large deformation time while preventing a breakage from occurring on a vertical frame material and a junction between the vertical frame material and a wall surface material in a configuration having a metallic wall surface material and a wooden vertical frame material.SOLUTION: A load bearing wall comprises: a metallic wall surface material on which openings are formed in vertical direction so as to be spaced away from each other; an annular rib that is provided along a marginal part of the openings of the wall surface material and protrudes from the marginal part in a thickness direction of the wall surface material; and a pair of vertical frame materials, which extend in the vertical direction and whose both ends in a width direction on the wall surface material are joined respectively. The vertical frame material has a first wooden vertical material disposed on one side in the thickness direction of the wall surface material and a second wooden vertical material that is disposed on the other side in the thickness direction of the wall surface material and sandwiches an end in the width direction of the wall surface material between the first vertical material and the second vertical material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
