To provide a protective fence and a column with excellent workability and economy by realizing a structure that significantly reduces the number of wire grips used.SOLUTION: A protective fence 10 has a column 1, a protective net 2 stretched between the columns 1, and rope members 3 and 4 to be fastened to the column 1. A terminal portion on at least one end side of the rope member 3 provided on an upper part of the column 1 is formed in advance in a ring shape. It is hung on a rope positioning member 5 provided on the upper part of the column 1 and fastened. The rope positioning member 5 has an arm portion 51 projecting from an upper outer peripheral portion of the column and a rising portion 52 rising from the arm portion 51. A ring portion 3a of the terminal portion of the rope member 3 hooked to a head of the column 1 is positioned in a groove portion 6 formed by the column 1 and the rope positioning member 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
