To provide a method for reinforcing an existing structure which can be constructed simply in a small work space and which can obtain large press-in reaction.SOLUTION: In a method for reinforcing an existing structure that reinforces an existing structure (1) with a part embedded in a foundation, a temporary structure (31) is pressed into a foundation (21) around the existing structure (1) and is installed, and a reinforcement steel plate (51) is installed around a part to be reinforced, in the existing structure (1). A press-in device (61) for pressing the reinforcement steel plate (51) into the foundation (21) is attached to the temporary structure (31), and press-in reaction necessary for the press-in device (61) to press the reinforcement steel plate (51) into the foundation (21) is obtained by the temporary structure (31).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
