To provide a parting edge capable of exhibiting high waterproof performance and a parting edge construction method.SOLUTION: This U-shaped parting edge covers the upper end of an outer wall material of a building and abuts against the rear surface of the outer wall material and the front surface of an eaves soffit material of the building. The parting edge comprises: an upper plate that covers the upper end of the outer wall material; a front plate that droops from the front end of the upper plate; and a rear plate that droops from the rear end of the upper plate. The rear plate is longer than the front plate, a first waterproof gasket is provided outside the upper plate, and a second waterproof gasket is provided inside the rear plate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
