To provide a shielding device which has higher operability, while including a brake device.SOLUTION: A shielding device constituted so as to move a shielding material includes a brake device, a cord, and a cord turning member, all of which are provided in a head box. The brake device includes one end port and the other end port, and the cord is inserted in the brake device from the one end port toward the other end port. According to the movement of the cord, resistance is applied to the cord.
