To provide a method of heating a paving screed that reduces the number of constituent features to be used so as to reduce the possibility of malfunction.SOLUTION: A method of adjusting temperature of a screed plate of a paving screed (101) of a road paving machine (100), the paving screed being provided with a heating element (113) for heating the screed plate (111) and a temperature sensor (114) for measuring the temperature of the screed plate for a certain period of time, and the road paving machine being provided with a control unit (130) for adjusting the target temperature of the heating element (113) in accordance with the temperature profile of the screed plate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
