To provide a speed controller of which the variation range of a brake torque is wide.SOLUTION: A speed controller 2 comprises: a housing 4; a retainer 6 which is stored in the housing 4 freely movably in an axial direction; a spring member 8 which presses the retainer 6 to one side in the axial direction; a rotor 10 which is mounted in the housing 4 in a freely rotatable manner; and a weight 12 which is supported by the rotor 10 so as to be freely swung. An annular inclined plane 36 extending toward the outside in a radial direction while being inclined to one side in the axial direction is formed at an inner surface side edge of an end face wall 30 of the retainer 6. When the rotor 10 is rotated, the weight 12 is swung to the outside in the radial direction by a centrifugal force, the weight 12 and the annular inclined plane 36 are brought into contact, and a brake torque caused by a friction force between the weight 12 and the annular inclined plane 36 acts on the rotor 10. A moving amount of the retainer 6 to the other side in the axial direction increases in response to a rise of a rotation speed of the rotor 10 and a force of the spring member 8 pressing the retainer 6 to one side in the axial direction increases. Therefore, vertical drag in the annular inclined plane 36 increases and the brake torque increases.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】制動トルクの変動幅が大きいスピードコントローラを提供する。【解決手段】スピードコントローラ2は、ハウジング4と、ハウジング4に軸方向に移動自在に収容されたリテーナ6と、リテーナ6を軸方向片側に押し付けるばね部材8と、ハウジング4に回転自在に装着された回転体10と、回転体10に揺動自在に支持されたウエイト12とを備える。リテーナ6の端面壁30の内面側周縁には径方向外側に向かって軸方向片側に傾斜して延びる環状傾斜面36が形成されている。回転体10が回転すると、遠心力によりウエイト12が径方向外側に揺動してウエイト12と環状傾斜面36とが接触し、ウエイト12と環状傾斜面36との摩擦力に起因する制動トルクが回転体10に作用する。回転体10の回転速度の上昇に応じて、リテーナ6の軸方向他側への移動量が増大すると共に、ばね部材8がリテーナ6を軸方向片側に向かって押し付ける力が増大することによって、環状傾斜面36における垂直抗力が増大して制動トルクが増大する。【選択図】図1
