To provide a self-opening mechanism that allows self-opening of a folding door, and a folding door equipped with the mechanism.SOLUTION: A self-opening mechanism 100 is constituted by a tension spring 110 that is attached to a pair of door panels 12,13 that configure a folding door 10. One end of the tension spring 110 is attached to one door panel 12. Further, the other end of the tension spring 110 is attached to the other door panel 13. Then, a least either one of the one end and the other end of the tension spring 110 is attached to either one of the door panels 12,13 in a rotatable manner.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
