METHOD OF PRODUCING GRAPHITE MATERIAL
To provide a graphite material of improved oxidative wear resistance, and a method of producing the same.SOLUTION: There is provided a graphite material prepared by immersing a graphite material including Fe as a trace impurity element having been reduced to 1 mass.ppm or less, in a phosphate solution containing one species or two or more species selected from boron hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide and silicon hydroxide as a main component to impregnate the pores of the graphite material with the metal hydroxide, and thereafter converting the metal hydroxide to a corresponding metal oxide by a drying/heating treatment so that the pores are filled/encapsulated with the metal oxide phase.
