To provide a coating composition which can improve flame retardancy of a base material and is quickly cured at ordinary temperature, a building material, a structural member, and a method for manufacturing a structural member.SOLUTION: A coating composition is provided, including water-soluble melamine resin (a), polycondensed phosphate (b), one or more (c) selected from a phosphoric acid, a boric acid, an ammonium salt and ammonia water, and a compound (d) having an amino group in a molecular structure. A structural member is provided, including a base material and a coated film formed on the surface of the base material, wherein the coated film includes a water-soluble melamine resin (A), polycondensed phosphate (B), one or more (C) selected from a phosphoric acid, a boric acid, an ammonium salt and ammonia, and polycondensate (D) of a compound having an amino group in the molecular structure and formaldehyde.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
