To provide a door closer that is easy to install and can be finished with an excellent aesthetic appearance.SOLUTION: A door closer including a main body 3 attached to either one of a door and a door frame, in which the main body 3 has a drive unit 14 that drives the door, and a monitoring sensor 90 that is positioned side-by-side with the drive unit 14 in the left-right direction and monitors an area near the door; the monitoring sensor 90 is located at a side of a tip end of the door relative to the drive unit 14; the main body 3 has a cover covering the drive unit 14; and the monitoring sensor 90 is attached to the cover.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
