To provide a piezoelectric element with small mechanical loss and large displacement when driven at high speed and large amplitude.SOLUTION: A piezoelectric element consists of first and second electrodes provided opposite each other, and a piezoelectric ceramics disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode and in contact therewith, mainly composed of a compound having a perovskite-type structure containing Pb, Zr, Ti and O as constituent elements, wherein the average domain width in the sintered particles 11 observed in the cross section perpendicular to the first and second electrodes is between 100 nm and 500 nm and the area percentage of sintered particles with observed domain 12 in the cross section is 60% or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
【課題】高速大振幅で駆動した場合の機械的損失が小さく、かつ、変位量の大きな圧電素子を提供する。【解決手段】圧電素子は、対向して設けられた第1の電極及び第2の電極並びに第1の電極間及び第2の電極間に、これらに接して配置され、構成元素としてPb、Zr、Ti及びOを含むペロブスカイト型構造を有する化合物を主成分とし、第1の電極及び第2の電極に垂直な断面内に観察される、焼結粒子11中の平均ドメイン幅が100nm以上500nm以下であり、かつ、断面内を占める、ドメイン12が観察される焼結粒子の面積百分率が60%以上である圧電セラミックスを備える。【選択図】図4
