To provide a main rope attaching tool capable of erecting a main rope to which a safety belt can be attached when working on a sloped roof without need to construct temporary scaffolding.SOLUTION: The main rope attaching tool has a support stand 3. The support stand 3 is provided with a fixed post 6. The fixed post 6 is provided with a main rope post 2 having a main rope attachment portion 10 to which the main rope is attached so as to be raised and fallen with respect to the support stand 3. The main rope post 2 can be moved in an axial direction of the main rope post 2 with respect to the fixed post 6, and is provided with a raising holding portion 12 to hold the main rope post 2 in a raised state and a falling holding portion 17 to hold the main rope post 2 in a fallen state.
