To provide a member installation apparatus that is configured to be compact as a whole and can streamline an installation work of the apparatus, and a member installation method using the member installation apparatus.SOLUTION: An installation apparatus for installation of a member includes a frame main body portion 12 that is vertically extendable and contractive, a cantilever overhang portion 14 that is coupled to the frame main body portion 12 and is cantilevered overhanging from the frame main body portion 12, and a suspension portion 16 that is configured to suspend and support the installed member with a predetermined length downward from the cantilever overhang portion 14 and is configured to be movable along a longitudinal direction of the cantilever overhang portion 14. The installation of the installed member to a predetermined position is done by a downward contraction of the frame main body portion 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
