To provide a water level detection system allowing its installation to be carried out in an easy way and in low cost.SOLUTION: A water level detection device 2 is provided with: a signal supply unit 28 for supplying high frequency signals to a specific ladder 12b of a plurality of ladders 12a to 12j supported on an inner peripheral wall of a manhole 4 and placed along a vertical direction with intervals so as to radiate electric waves in the manhole 4 from the specific ladder 12b; a receiving antenna 30 installed in the manhole 4, the receiving antenna 30 being arranged to receive a composite wave including radiated waves from the specific ladder 12b and reflected waves from a water surface in the manhole 4; and a detection unit 32 for detecting a water level in the manhole 4 based on a received power of the composite wave received with the receiving antenna 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
