To provide a stud type steel material damper capable of surely applying shearing force without applying vertical force to a shearing panel and not impairing the performance of energy absorbing capacity.SOLUTION: A stud-type steel damper 1 mounted between an upper beam 9 U and a lower beam 9 L of a frame consisting of columns 8 and beams is provided with a stud upper part 11 connected to an upper beam 9 U and a stud lower part 12 connected to a lower beam 9 L, and at least one of the stud upper part 11 and the stud lower part 12 is provided with an opening part 11o, and also a shear panel 13 made of a low yield point steel having a yield strength smaller than that of the stud upper part 11 and the stud lower part 12 is joined in parallel with the frame so as to close the opening part 11o, and the stud upper part 11 and the stud lower part 12 are connected by a connecting part 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
