The present invention relates to an elevator comprising: a handrail provided at an inner wall surface of an elevator car; a lighting unit provided at the handrail; and a control unit controlling a lighting state of the lighting unit based on a driving mode of the elevator car. Accordingly, the present invention can obtain an advantageous effect of guiding safe evacuation of a passenger in case of emergency.
