PROPELLERS FITTED SELF-ELEVATING WORK PLATFORM
A propeller fitted Self-Elevating Work Platform (SEWOP) having at least one propeller with rudder positioned at aft and driven by a diesel engine and at least one azimuth thruster positioned at stern and driven by an electric motor is disclosed. While SEWOP is moving in open waters, the propulsion is by the propellers. While near an offshore installation, the SEWOP needs to be positioned and hence the propeller with rudder is used to slowly move towards the installation. At the time of installation, the azimuth thruster is used to assist in maintaining the position of SEWOP.
La présente invention concerne une plate-forme de travail auto-élévatrice (SEWOP) à hélice montée comportant au moins une hélice à gouvernail positionnée à l'arrière et entraînée par un moteur diesel et au moins un propulseur azimutal positionné au niveau de la poupe et entraîné par un moteur électrique. La propulsion est assurée par les hélices lorsque la SEWOP se déplace en mer libre. En cas de proximité vis-à-vis d'une installation offshore, la SEWOP doit être positionnée et, par conséquent, l'hélice à gouvernail est utilisée en vue d'un déplacement lent vers l'installation. Au moment de l'installation, le propulseur azimutal est utilisé pour aider à maintenir la position de la SEWOP.
