The purpose of the invention is to provide a novel door or window fixture and lock device for which an operation to release an engaged state of a door and a frame is separate from an operation to open and close the door. Provided is a door or window fixture 1 that comprises a frame 3 provided along the four sides of an opening in a building, and a door 2 provided in the opening so that same can be opened and closed, wherein the door or window fixture 1 comprises an engaging unit (for example a latch bolt 41A) by which the frame 3 is biased so as to engage with the door 2, and a first retaining unit 49 that retains a state in which the engaging unit is not engaged with the frame 3.
