Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum automatischen Auslösen einer Fahrzeugfunktion eines Fahrzeugs (206), das Verfahren umfassend: Ermitteln eines ersten Ortes (212) eines Objekts zu einem ersten Zeitpunkt in einem Umfeld eines Fahrzeugs; Ermitteln eines zweiten Ortes des Objekts zu einem zweiten Zeitpunkt in dem Umfeld des Fahrzeugs; Berechnen eines Bewegungsvektors (202, 204) in Abhängigkeit des ermittelten ersten Ortes des Objekts zu dem ersten Zeitpunkt und des ermittelten zweiten Ortes des Objekts zu dem zweiten Zeitpunkt; Bestimmen eines Schnittpunkts zwischen dem Bewegungsvektor und einem virtuellen Fahrzeugbereich (214), wobei der virtuelle Fahrzeugbereich mindestens teilweise einem realen Fahrzeugbereich des Fahrzeugs (206) entspricht; und, falls ein Schnittpunkt zwischen dem Bewegungsvektor (202) und einem virtuellen Fahrzeugbereich (214) vorhanden ist, Auslösen einer Fahrzeugfunktion.
