To improve operability relating to a strongbox door of a strongbox included in a currency processing device, the currency processing device is formed from: the strongbox comprising the strongbox door; and a currency storage part which is disposed within the strongbox. The strongbox door is disposed such that when the strongbox door is opened, the strongbox door slides in a prescribed direction away from the strongbox in order that the opened strongbox door does not interfere with the use of other devices positioned to the left and right of the currency processing device.
