The present invention provides a fall protection system for a ladder, the fall protection system comprising a plurality of barrier elements movable between an operative condition and a collapsed condition. The barrier elements cooperate in the operative condition to provide a protection barrier for at least a portion of the ladder wherein the protection barrier defined by the barrier elements in the operative condition provides an enclosed path for a user of the ladder.
