Energy Consumption in Healthcare Buildings in Spain
Healthcare buildings represents one of the sectors with the highest incidence of carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere. Identification of energy consumption in healthcare buildings is essentials to determine the possible save and to fix design criteria. The relationship between this consumption and functional indicators for a healthcare building has been not sufficiently analysed. This study analyse the energy consumption in healthcare buildings in Spain, and determine the possible save. In the period 2005-2014, 20 healthcare buildings were analysed. Built surface area, bed numbers and employee numbers were studied. The results show average annual energy consumption under normal conditions of operation of healthcare building in Spain. The relationship between average annual energy consumption, as a function of the number of employees, number of bed and built surface area by hospital were defined.
